2. Webinar Highlights:
Presenter: Attorney Bridgit Truxillo
Background:
Former FL deputy in Narcotics and SWAT
Faced harassment at work for being female
Transitioned into law to help clients nationwide with harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and hostile work environments
Key Discussion Points:
Understanding Workplace Behavior:
Mean Boss vs. Targeted Discrimination:
Mean Boss: Tough on everyone (often common in various professions)
Targeted Discrimination: A boss who singles you out with discriminatory behavior
Steps to Take If You’re Targeted:
Bridgit advises immediate action using these three steps:
Seek Appropriate Help:
Consult your FOP or PBA representative or obtain outside legal counsel.
Document Everything:
Record dates, specifics of incidents, and names of those involved.
Report It Twice:
Report the incident to both your HR department and your command staff.
(This dual reporting ensures that separate investigations can be conducted—a critical step for a strong legal case.)
Why Reporting Is Critical:
Without a formal report, resolving the issue or building a solid legal case is nearly impossible.
Be aware of strict time limits for reporting. For full details—including what happens after you report to the EEOC—please watch the webinar.
